Terms of use and licence

Last updated 21 October 2026.

You may read, share and reuse SocioLens's own text, with credit. This page says what that covers and what it does not.

Licence

SocioLens's own text is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). This covers the debates, the wording of claims, summaries, research opportunities and the pages that explain the site. You may copy, share and adapt it for any purpose, including commercial use. In return, give credit, link to the licence and say if you changed anything.

Give credit in this form: SocioLens project, page title, page address. For example:

SocioLens project, Open questions, https://sociolens-web.pages.dev/open-questions/

To cite a debate, claim or research opportunity in academic work, use the "Cite this page" box on its page. The citation points to the version you read. Source pages have no citation box: cite the original work they describe.

What the licence does not cover

Not advice, no warranty

SocioLens is a map of research. It sets out what published work says and where it is uncertain. It is not legal, policy, financial, medical or other professional advice.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty. It may contain errors, miss relevant work, or be out of date after a debate's evidence cut-off. Check the cited sources before you rely on a claim.

Versions and corrections

These records are published in versions: debates, claims, sources, concepts, Radar updates, research opportunities and their proposal outlines, and the Start Here statement. The record of a published version never changes. A correction is a new version that says what changed and why, and the old version stays at its own address. The site may add a note to an older version's page, such as that a newer version exists, or withhold a figure not cleared for public use, and says so on that page. See Versions and corrections.

Other pages are not versioned. Pages that explain the site, lists, search, this page, the privacy notice and the legal notice can change, and their earlier wording is not kept at an address of its own. Where such a page shows a "Last updated" date, as this page and the privacy notice do, that date shows when it last changed.
